These recommendations are guidelines and come from our staff experiences, installation, and customer feedback. Lastly The PureFlow AirDog II-4G 200 gph Diesel Lift Pumps are recommended for hot street or competition diesel trucks that exceed 1000 horsepower. When running the AirDog II 4G the demand flow only allows the pump to send what fuel is needed to the injection pump, and all other fuel is recirculated internally in the base, returning it to the suction side of the pump. With the original AirDog “High Flow Return,” all excessive fuel not being used by your truck will be returned to the tank. So unlike what you may have heard online, purchasing this pump will not hurt anything.
An AirDog Lift Pump with 150gph or 165 gph is still fine for a stock truck, even if your future plans never work out. However, as mentioned before, it’s not all about the horsepower. The tests we have done on our Dynojet Chassis Dyno have shown increased horsepower, as in the case of the 2013 GMC Duramax LML we tested, it saw an hp gain of 40hp on a stock tune with a S&B Intake, and 20hp on a performance tune with the same intake. This is also the most common pump we install and recommend to our customers. If you currently have a stock diesel truck but have plans for future upgrades, then this size lift pump would be a excellent choice. The AirDog 150 and AirDog II-4G 165 are good for diesel trucks running up to about a 1000 rear wheel horsepower. The PureFlow AirDog 150 gph and PureFlow AirDog II-4G 165 Diesel Lift Pumps are recommended by ADLP for the higher horsepower rigs running modified fuel systems, larger injectors, and custom tuning such as EFI Live. The PureFlow AirDog and AirDog II-4G 100 is perfect if looking for added protection, filtration down to 2 micron, improved fuel economy, longevity and throttle response while towing and daily driving. These lift pumps are the best suited for stock diesel trucks or diesel trucks running an aftermarket tuner or programmer such as EFI Live, Edge, SCT, BullyDog, H&S, Smarty, and any other performance tuner or programmer. This will cover about 95% of the diesel pickup trucks on the road. The PureFlow AirDog 100 and PureFlow AirDog II-4G 100 Diesel Lift Pumps are recommended for up to 500 rear wheel horsepower.
